Edgy Interview: Gorton Moore

It’s Father’s Day and we at News from the Edge have got a father-and-son special edition for you. We’ve convinced Steven Moore and his dad George Gorton to sit down for this month’s Edgy Interview. Actually, it was Moore’s idea… he has a lot of good ideas.  

It’s hard to know whether father or son is more well-travelled. They’ve both been around the world and then some. They also both work in politics, though George is more on the campaign side and Moore has been mostly on the legislative side.  The little-known Gorton-CERC connection: George was CERC President John Nienstedt’s boss for awhile in 1986. He co-owned voter contact firm Direct Communication then, and Nienstedt (along with a couple other guys) ran phone banks in Texas from June through November that year. You could say there wouldn’t be a CERC without George Gorton. Read more

Some Thoughts on Turnout and Other Thoughts on the Governor’s Race

Many observers have marveled at the weird turns the campaigns for Governor have taken during the Primary season. Democrat Gavin Newsom has been campaigning hard for Republican John Cox. Democrat Antonio Villaraigosa and his allies have been campaigning for Republican Travis Allen. Read more
